Introduction to QR Codes

If you want to drive customers and prospects to specific internet sites or capture your
contact information instantly, you need to include QR codes on everything you print. QR
codes are one of the hottest applications in the marketing world today! They are easy to
create and cost little or nothing to add to your marketing collateral. If QR codes are not on
your marketing “To Do” List, they should be.

What is a QR Code?

QR stands for Quick Response. QR codes are 2 dimensional bar codes that are printed on
a surface (paper, sign, etc.), then scanned by a smart phone which brings you directly to
a specific URL or provide email or contact information that can be saved to your phone!

How do QR Codes work?

Viewing QR Codes is easy. Simply point your mobile phone camera toward the code, snap
a picture and you are directed to a URL or gives you the opportunity to save a person’s
VCard or send an email! In some phones, QR readers are Pre-Installed. Some phones
require a download which is inexpensive or free. (Our favorite QR reader (and all other bar-codes) on the iPhone is ‘Bakodo’, available in the App Store for free.)

How are QR Codes used?

QR codes are being used in many ways and are limited only by your imagination. Some
popular uses are: all types of marketing collateral, coupons, brochures, mailings, maps,
puzzles, posters, signs, name badges, magazine advertisements and business cards.
